Once a dependence of Maison de Maurice, the Old Goat Shed, has recently been brought back to life.
The Old Goat Shed is the ideal ‘get away’ gite, restored with taste, sympathy and style and with original hand painted designs by Loire Valley artist Daniel Camelot, this is truly a little piece of holiday heaven. Although petite in stature, the Old Goat Shed is perfectly sized and equipped for any couple.
The Old Goat Shed, paired with our other gites – Maison de Maurice and Chez Aline really makes Bois Mort the perfect destination for family get-togethers, but all the gites are also sufficiently independent to ensure complete privacy.
There is also space for the children to burn off that bit of extra energy in the separate play area.
The charming open plan lounge / kitchen has a log burning stove, TV/DVD player, CD player, bluetooth speaker, comfortable wing backed chairs and an extremely well appointed oak kitchen with hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher and fridge with freezer, as well as everything else you’d expect to find in a romantic rural gite.
The double bedroom has as its feature a ‘princess and the pea’ bed, elevated over the old manger with lots of storage underneath for luggage and cases of wine! A romantic chandelier hangs over the bed. You can lie in the bed wondering ‘how did they managed to get an entire old oak tree running the length of the building’ (we don’t know!). Just off the bedroom is the shower-room, decorated in neutral tones, with modern shower, illuminated basin and WC.
The house also has internet/wifi, so you can stream music from your own devices. As well as all this, you will find books, games and DVDs at your disposal.
Moving outside the Old Goat Shed, you have your own private terrace with table, chairs, parasol and a stone BBQ for alfresco dining. We have surrounded your terrace with old vines and flowers to ensure you as much privacy as possible.
Just at the bottom of the orchard, up the old oak beam stairs you will find the above heated swimming pool, with open views over the countryside – a real relief on those hot days. We also supply sun chairs and a picnic bench for additional relaxation and alfresco dining. For the grown ups, a real a Swedish log burning hot tub which is perfect for spring and autumn weather when the evenings are less balmy, but also a great benefit after cycling and walking all the routes on our doorstep.
